Slingshot provides inventory control and manufacturing software for pharmaceutical companies.  This offering includes documentation to support the FDA requirement for software validation as specified in regulation 12CFRPart11.  A number of enhancements were added to this facility in release G2-16.1 including the ability to require and report an independent review of test results.

One hundred and fifty Operational Qualification (OQ) test scripts are provided with Slingshots applications.  These are “Click by Click” test scripts.  “Evidence” can be required for each test step (e.g., report, document or screen shot).  Slingshot’s customers can add their own scripts to validate configuration changes or to qualify unique operating procedures.  A Traceability Matrix ties the OQ scripts to documentation specifying the functionality being tested.  The Quality application accessed through Slingshot’s web site records the test results for each test script / test run.  A separate “Reviewer” user can be designated for each script.  The status of the script and software releases are maintained automatically.  A Validation Report shows all scripts, test results and reviewer confirmations.  Slingshot also provides Installation Qualification documentation.  This documentation is adjusted to comply with the customer’s operating environment.  Slingshot deploys its products “on premise” and “hosted” on Microsoft’s Azure cloud.

Today Slingshot announces the release of version G2-16 of its application software suite. Slingshot’s products include Order, Inventory and Financial Management along with Demand Forecasting, Supply Chain Planning and Warehouse Management.
Here are some release highlights:

   Over Fifty Enhancements Across all Applications
  New Process Automation Application
   Multiple Security Enhancements (user authentication, access monitoring)

   Dropped support for Internet Explorer browser

Slingshot’s products are based on the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework and can be easily extended using Slingshot’s eTools web development toolset. The modules integrate readily with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite and other ERP providers. We are pleased to announce an update of our corporate web site! The new site takes advantage of the latest web technologies. It's driven by the Joomla! content management system. The home page is decorated by a magnificent view of Boston at night. We're reproducing it modified a bit (cropped at top and bottom), thus making it available for further modification or reuse under the same license.


Slingshot announced it has completed its first year of document processing for Office Depot.  The Slingshot solution ingests all invoice documents received by Office Depot into Slingshot’s “Document Queues” workflow tool.  Documents can be received from a mailroom (scanned), uploaded from a customer portal, received as EDI, Email attachments or via file transport (FTP, SFTP).  Multiple document formats are supported (XLS, PDF, TIFF etc.).  Invoices are validated, GL coded, routed for user approval and passed to ERP for payment. 

Slingshot completed the first year of operation in April.  Over 7 million invoices were processed.  The benefits of the solution are lower handling costs, improved accuracy, compliance with corporate policies and auditability.  According to Paul Carr, Slingshot’s CEO, “The Office Depot project proves the Slingshot Applications hosted on Microsoft’s Azure platform can deliver excellent performance in demanding, high volume environments.  We believe this proof statement will open the door to future opportunities.”

Slingshot has added “user defined” checklists to its application suite.  Checklist completion can be required when posting a receipt or shipment and opening or completing a work order.  In fact, any process can be associated with a checklist.  Checklists provided documented evidence of compliance with standard operating procedures.
