On October 7th, 2008, InformationWeek.com posted an article by Marianne Kolbasuk McGee discussing the unique information and inventory management challenges posed by the ambitious National Children's Study that will span over two decades.  Including Slingshot's eBuy Procurement, eRequest Requisitions, and eStock Inventory (three of the modules from the full Slingshot eCity ERP suite) the NCS has gathered a collection of best-of-breed custom and off-the-shelf solutions to help manage what will surely be one of the most data rich children's health studies in U.S. history.

The data will be collected by following 100,000 children from birth to age 21.  Staff and volunteers at one of 105 data centers will periodically collect important health data from each participant.  This information will be used to study the impact of environmental, biological, genetic, and psychosocial factors on the children's health at various stages in their development.  Slingshot eCity is proud to be involved in this extensive observation and research project aimed at improving the health and well-being of children.
